CHILDREN'S LITURGY The Children's Liturgy at Holy Cross was established over 10 years ago. The aim is to help the younger children to understand the Gospel through a specially adapted children's version and creative activities. Helped by members of the parish on a rota basis, the children leave Mass led by Fr Ted for about twenty minutes. All younger children are welcome whether they belong to the parish or are just visiting.

READERS GROUP At Holy Cross the group numbers 13, and we are always on the lookout for others to join us. Readers do not need any special qualifications, just a desire to proclaim the word of God, which we do at Saturday and Sunday Masses and on Holy Days. We work in two teams, one for Saturday and one for Sunday, and organise a rota so that each reader will know in advance when he or she is "on duty". Arrangements can be made to prepare and advise anyone thinking of joining the readers rota, and to show prospective readers how to use the microphone. We do not have regular meetings for readers, but arrange them from time to time when needed. SACRAMENTAL PROGRAMME There is an established Sacramental Programme in the parishes of Holy Cross and St Matthew's enabling parents, children and schools to work together to prepare children for the sacraments of Confirmation, Reconciliation and the Eucharist. The celebration of these sacraments are important events in the lives of families and the wider parish communities into which the children are welcomed. The parish Sacramental Programme is a year long programme led by Father Michael and a group of parishioners in which year 3 children take part. In the parish it consists of four meetings for parents and six meetings for the children. This is an important ministry in the parish and we would welcome parishioners who would like to help. Please speak to Father Michael if you are interested in helping with the programme.
